Kings Lynn Gallopers: A Ride Through History
Our Kings Lynn Gallopers is a 1st class example of the most iconic fairground ride of generations.
A Ride with a Rich History
Built in 1898 by Savages of Kings Lynn for the Webb family of Wiltshire, our “Kings Lynn” Gallopers (never to be confused for a ‘carousel’ or ‘merry-go-round’) then went on to change hands numerous times before being put into storage during the War. After being purchased by Charles Thurston, they then spent most of their working life at Walton Pier.

Restoration and Revival
We acquired the ride in 2015, since then we have carried out considerable refurbishment, which includes the addition of a 1936, 61 key, "Verbeeck" mechanical organ. Learn more about our restoration process.
A Masterpiece of Traditional Craftsmanship
As with all of our attractions the ride is traditionally decorated by hand, much real gold leaf has been used.

Entertaining rides for generations, a firm favourite with old and young
As well as 30 hand painted horses, Horton’s Kings Lynn Gallopers included two traditionally decorated chariots for those wanting a more relaxed ride without missing out on the magic of bygone times.
